LEVEL 2 Watercolor April 20&21 Lighthouse Community Center, Qualicum Bay

LEVEL 2 expects you have had ‘some’ experience with watercolour

this is still considered a Beginner class. We will further develop the three factors of Water, Paper, Paint. The course relies heavily on wet into wet techniques. We will focus on Edge Managment, Value controls, negative painting and hi lights and shadows. We will work on small basic images to strengthen our skills and as always …

It is a skills class and … this is FUN art not FINE art.

…. SUPPLY LIST….

What do we need to take the class? .... bring what you have... I always have extra stuff if you don’t “have” the stuff on the list.... this isn’t about having the right colours or brushes it is about skills. If you do purchase something ... get ARTIST GRADE paints and paper! Paint Brands that are artist grade are ...

QOR, Daniel Smith, M Graham, Holbein, Windsor Newton (not Cotman)

WWW.DavinciPaints.com is the brand I order and I use most often

The colors I have in the basic set are... but not necessarily the only ones ... just a suggestion

Vermillion

Alizarin Crimson

Indian Yellow or arylide

Hansa or lemon yellow

Cerulean, manganese or Cobalt Blue

French Ultramarine Blue ( FUB)

Prussian Blue

Violet

Burnt Sienna

Sap Green

Might like to add... a cobalt teal, sepia or burnt umber, raw Sienna or Naples yellow?

And if you are a bit hesitant to go to the art store I do have a basic kit. It includes everything you need to get started you just need paper. It includes all the artist grade paint, in a folding portable palette, a set of basic brushes and pen, pencil, and other assorted bits and pieces.

You still need to purchase the paper.

you can purchase for $50

(Let me know if you would like to go that way I will bring them with me that day)

Brushes I tend to use mostly Mop or round brushes ... larger rather than smaller for a round brush you need at least a #12/#14 . A smaller #6/8 round brush But you don’t need more than a couple brushes ...

EVERYBODY …. the one thing you do need to purchase to bring to class
