I am sitting in Mexico as I write this. But I'm still working away and getting ready for when I return home. I'm gonna hit the ground running and be a busy little painter. But I'm kind of excited again. We need a rest from all this stuff and then you're just anxious to get back at it again. I've been painting while I've been here. If you follow my Facebook page My Sketchy Friends, you will notice that we've been in Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta and the little town we go to called Melaque. We do a lot of Plein Air /urban, sketching while we're here. Gives me something to do and it just makes me so much more observant when I am out here spending my 40 minutes looking and seeing and, sketching and painting. I have filmed myself doing a couple of the beach restaurants. And they will be going up and hopefully a new series on Pleine Air painting so watch for that later on in the spring. I'm doing one set of level one classes coming up in person March 2 and 3 at the Lighthouse Community Center . And a paint party March 7 at the Nanoose Bay Cafe. One of the reasons I love, watercolor painting is that it's so portable. So dust off your paint kits stock up your paint bag and get ready to go out to paint.... whether it's in your backyard or in your neighborhood garden or on a trip. It just helps you see the world in a more complete way.
So, if nothing else ....I challenge you to go out in your garden and look for some of those new shoots from those bulbs, you planted. Or the buds coming out on a hydrangea, bush or something and .... journal that..... then come back here and post them in our MySketchyFriends communit5y ....Go out every few days and paint the improvements or the changes that you see in that plant. It makes you look more closely be help you get a little excited about spring on the way ...and .... it gets those paints out .....doesn't matter what you paint just paint you'll get better I guarantee it.
So have a look at some of the classes that we've got going on some of the new projects that I have in my online and in person classes. When I get back home, I have Book 2 ready ....just have to film the classes that go with it. I hope it will be up and on the way to help you grow in your watercolor skills. (And allow me to cuss and fuss at the technology to make them ! )
